Off-road racing was a new venture for JBR in 2008, and a far different discipline than the pin-point driving required for on-road sportscar racing. Why the switch? A trip to Primm, Nevada for an up-close look at short-course racing sealed the deal for the hard-driving Jenkins brothers, who saw short-course off-road competition not only as a great way to go racing, but also as the perfect fit for primary sponsor Traxxas® the number-one name in hobby-class radio-controlled cars and trucks. the over-the-top horsepower, incredible air time and go-for-it driving style of short-course racing was like R/C off-roading gone "full size."

Mike and Mark Jenkins' performance improved steadily throughout their first year of short-course racing. By the season's end, Mark had a best finish of fifth place with his Pro 2WD machine, and Mike Jenkins made the podium twice with two third-place finishes behind the wheel of his Pro 4X4 truck. In total, the Jenkins brothers posted sixteen top-10 finishes in their first season of short-course competition. As the 2009 TORC season revs up, Traxxas and Jenkins Brothers Racing look forward to exciting racing and more visits to the podium.
For 2009, Traxxas has three of these Kenworth rigs criss-crossing the country. One hauls the race trucks, another is configured as a rolling workshop with full fabrication capability, and the third is a "Mobile Support Center" that deploys the Traxxas Try-Me track and works as Traxxas Customer Support on wheels.
